04 · Path

Where I come from.

From first C++ at thirteen to a 400-person Shopify event in 2026. Built in the UK, applied everywhere.

  1. First line of code: C++. How is this even possible?

  2. First websites in Dreamweaver. Flash (RIP). Photoshop.

  3. Travelled. Ten-plus jobs, from farming to sales. Learned how the world works.

  4. Moved to the UK. First developer role at Yay.com. Built their first ecommerce platform, 100% custom.

  5. Frontend developer and Scrum Master at Aviva.

  6. Full stack developer. Python became the backend language I actually enjoyed.

  7. First online store on WooCommerce (ten sales, all time). Discovered Shopify. Met Dan Nistor; started working together as freelancers.

  8. Left the day job. Tech Lead, then CTO. First hire at Vevol Media.

  9. Team grew past ten people.

  10. Noblesse launched on the Shopify Theme Store. Raised angel investment.

  11. Back in Iasi, Romania. First Shopify Romania meetup. Global work, local roots.

  12. Company Form on the App Store. Took over FC Politehnica Iasi online operations and shop, launched BlueHub community. Vevol became a Shopify Plus agency. First Shopify Meetup CEE.

  13. Shopify Meetup CEE: 400+ people, the biggest Shopify event in the region (through Vevol Media). Launched gradinitaiasi.ro. The fractional CTO seat opens.

06 · How I think

How the work actually runs.

Four principles. The same ones I use in the agency, in products, and in a fractional CTO seat.

  1. Clarity over chaos.

    Before code, before contracts: what are we actually trying to move? Fuzzy work gets expensive fast.

  2. Results, not hours.

    Hours measure activity. I care whether your number moved, and I will tell you when the honest answer is "do not build this."

  3. Systems before scale.

    AI and teams both multiply whatever you point them at. I build the system first, then add the engine.

  4. Keep it simple.

    "Sometimes you don't need ten thousands of lines of code to fix one issue. You just need to be smart."

Who is Bogdan Dogaru?

Bogdan Dogaru is a fractional CTO and entrepreneur based in Iasi, Romania. After a decade in the UK, from frontend developer in startups to full stack developer in scale-ups and Scrum Master at Aviva in London, he co-founded Vevol Media in 2018 with Dan Nistor.
